Locked Chuck

I got the 18V Cordless drill about a year and a half ago as a gift, so I don't have a receipt for warranty purposes to have my drill fixed and the closest repair place is 50 miles away. Can I mail the drill somewhere to get it fixed under the warranty without a receipt or is there anything I can do as the chuck is locked and I can't get it to move at all? This is my fourth B&D drill, 3rd cordless, and all of the cordless drills have broken down after a year or two for different reasons.
