Great little light duty trim type router.

July 1, 2015

I have had this tool for a little while and used it far beyond what I expected it to last through. I have rounded edges, cut dados, made inlays, hollowed out pieces, and the list goes on and on. The size and weight make it easy to handle. The "drill" style handle makes handling the starting torque no problem. The speed is high enough to make smooth cuts. The side lever for locking the shaft also being the depth adjustment lock is a clever design feature. This is a great addition to the MATRIX line of tools.

As for all the naysayers: 1. read the instructions to understand how to use this device, 2. get creative with the guide ideas (I use a clamped piece of wood most of the time as a guide) (also the plate piece for the bottom is easily replaceable, possible DIY guide mods on extra plates), 3. it is not hard to hold the button on this handle (you don't have to hold the "safety" button on the router once you start), 4. don't use words like "engineering" when you don't understand them.

Pros: Light, powerful for its size, easy depth adjustment, you can replace the lower plate part, holds rather large bits for its size, great tool for the light DIYer

Cons: No routing accessories (this tool is just screaming TEMPLATE GUIDE). People who compare this with a heavy duty router as if it was meant for that type of use.

Good idea, but useless

The idea is perfect, good materials, good design, but doesn't work as a router. There is no way to keep the power on and use this machine, so is a nightmare to use it while pressing the switch "on" all the time.

Pros: nice looking

Cons: They missed the real concept of a router on this thing...actually is not a router, seems like a drill that looks like a router. This "thing" must be improved and put an extra switch "on/off", and add a couple guide attachments, otherwise is not even worth.

Great product given what it's designed for.

This is a wonderful product for light duty work. Very easy depth adjustment. Large spindle lock button rather then what's the norm on rotary tools. I was able to do a full 3/8" roundover using industrial grade bit in a single pass. Although multiple passes would save wear and tear so will be the norm in future. Overall a useful tool with in its designed parameters.

Pros: Portability, ease of use, compact uncomplicated design and easy controlled depth adjustment.

Cons: I was surprised it was geared up more to a higher rpm. Doesn't seem it would work well with cheap or HSS bits. Stick to carbide.

not impressed

i got the router for the matrix all excited til i went to use it. seems the single wrench bit change is not possible because there is no lock button for the nut. I can not change bits nor tighten them down. What good is it? Now just a waste of money and I will have to buy a router anyway. Love the idea but there are essentials that you have to have and tightening and changing bits is one of them.

Pros: The idea of it.

Cons: The fact I can't even use it because of the engineering of the Product.

awesome performance, amazing product for the size and potability.

I have used this to make all new kitchen drawers and it has just as good performance as a big stand alone router. Capable of handling all of the jobs I have done so far with it.

Pros: Size and portability of the unit and how it attaches to the drill.

Cons: I would like to have a case for the drill and all of the attachments to carry them securely. I have not found anything in regards to a carry case for them.
