Surprise! The Battery's Dead!!

Fun until you run out of juice, and then get on forums like these to learn that the battery will die after 18 months. And, the most awesome part is that they use a non-standard battery, which means the cost of replacing the drill is around the same cost as replacing the battery, ergo Karl Marx will have his prophecy regarding the demise of capitalism fulfilled sooner than we had hoped. I have no issues the performance for small tasks.

Pros: It works both ways and has different settings and stuff

Cons: Hearing that it used to function like a pistol, and instead is more like holding a forkball was disappointing. I also want to call out Ricky151 for his blatantly obvious sell-your-soul-for-the-corporation payment he received for writing such a clearly obvious sales pitch for what is - in reality - a less-than-quality product once the hidden truth comes out about it. If it takes 'awhile' to get used to what is not fundamentally different than an on/off light switch, your review should again, be taken as, and is worth nothing more than: a grain of salt. End result - cheap product - you will get exactly what you paid for...

Does what it's intended to do, pure and simple

I bought this to drive and remove screws and small nuts/bolts, period. Not to replace a ratchet or drive deck screws into 4" pressure treated stock. I'm a woodworker and hobby auto mechanic, as well as doing general home repairs. I have been using it to drive 1-2" wood screws, tighten hose clamps, remove/install dash components on my Jeep, replace headlights/side markers, and other general light duty tasks. I have used it both straight-on, and in the other two position settings, and have experienced no issues or discomfort in any of the settings. The "pistol" setting is especially useful when working in tight quarters, such as between joists or between the steering wheel and dash, though I do use it in the traditional position more than any other. As I said, I use it for what it is indented - a light duty screw and nut driver, and as such it performs well. My only issue is charging - would it be that difficult to provide a charging light and a circuit to prevent overcharging?

Pros: Easy to use Powerful enough for light/medium duty use Charge lasts a long time, easy to complete weeks of tasks between charging Comfortable to hold, and doesn't over-torque (no wrenching of the wrist)

Cons: Not supposed to overcharge nor charge before low...how about a 'low power' light? Charging time inexact - how about a light to indicate that it's charged, and an overcharge protection circuit?

POOR design, was this thing ever tested in real use

This was a replacement for a older B&D unit. The new design is awkward to use in the "pistol" position. Nothing like the older unit. The trigger is on top of the unit now. Why not on the bottom (like a pistol) so it is easier to use? Try holding a screw while trying to use the trigger! The "new" chuck that does NOT lock bits in, is another poor feature as the bits do fall out. A real pain!

Pros: It does work... in the straight position (not pistol) ok...

Cons: This was a replacement for a older B&D unit. The new design is awkward to use in the "pistol" position. Nothing like the older unit. The trigger is on top of the unit now. Why not on the bottom (like a pistol) so it is easier to use? The "new" chuck that does NOT lock bits in, is another poor feature as the bits do fall out. A real pain!

Basic - to a fault?

Really needs a place to store bits in the handle, and would be outstanding if it had a flip out plug so could plug it directly in the wall rather than having to keep finding the charger. Otherwise nice, compact, and easy-to-use. Note: not variable speed

Pros: Compact

Cons: Have to keep track of bits and charger separately. For a small screwdriver like this kept around for quick jobs it would be nice to have it more self contained.
