QUALITY

I HAVE PURCHASED THIS EQUIPMENT IN USA FOR MY OWN PURPOSE FOR SMALL HOUSEHOLD PURPOSE. I BROUGHT TO INDIA AND OPENED THE EQUIPMENT AND PLACED FOR CHARGING WITH STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER. IT IS NOT CHARGING AND UPSET MUSELF. BLACK & DECKER EQUIPMENTS ARE LOOK ELEGANT BUT NOT GIVING PROPER RESULT.

Pros: VERY USEFUL FOR SMALL HOUSEHOLD PURPOSE

Cons: IT IS NOT DURABLE AND BATTARY NOT LASTING FOR LONG

VP810 vs VP730 A design leap backwards

I got the VP810 as a replacement for a VP 730. Unfortunately the 730 is no longer available. To all intents and purposes you would think the two products would be basically equal. But the basically useless (I have multiple pistol grip style drills and screw guns) folding pistol grip adds 1 1/2" to the length and 1/4" to the diameter. Even thought the 810 is larger in both directions than the 730 it weighs about the same. That is not a good thing. That indicates it is built of lighter materials which would imply an earlier failure date.

Come on Black and Decker. Go back to an earlier successful design and ignore the marketing weenies who probably have never used a power tool in their lives. The function of a pistol grip on a rotating tool is to provide leverage for control. Neither the 810 or the 730 develop the level of torque that would require such a feature.

Pros: 1. Uses the same rechargeable VersaPak battery as the VP730 2. Supposedly performs the same functions as the VP730 3. Orange color is easier to find in a poorly lit workspace

Cons: 1. Increase in size over the previous VP730 2. Flimsier construction 3. Useless pistol grip function. 4. Un-necessary increase in the number of 'torque' settings. That level of sophistication is not applicable in an tool of this nature. 5 Not a valid successor to the VP730. 6. A design leap backwards.

A one purpose product that fulfills the purpose well

I bought one of these units in the fall of 2006, and was so well received by me, and so suited to the job that my little networking company now owns three and my original driver is still in use after seven years of heavy commercial use. I am about to buy a fourth driver as a stand-by which will give me four drivers, four double chargers and the fifteen gold batteries.

Pros: This unit looks like a home DIY handyman's play toy. Perish the thought -- this is a heavy duty professional tool. A silver battery comes with the driver, but you need to replace it as soon as possible with a gold battery. I recommend having three gold batteries and a two position charger for each driver; when I am installing rack mounted equipment in a data center I can predict I will need a battery for morning, and a battery after lunch and sometimes a battery for overtime. (I figure on about 150 or more screws in a day.) I find that three of the four gold batteries I bought on 12/12/2007 are still in use. My first Versapak drill is a mess, irrevocably filthy, but what counts is what is inside: the heart of a thoroughbred!

Cons: Use the silver batteries until they wear out, they don't last long nor do they have a long lasting charge. Replace them with gold batteries. I do wish they had a fitted carrying case for the drill, charger and three spare gold batteries; better yet, make that a sale package! Interestingly enough I got rid of the silver batteries that came with the VP800 at a garage sale. I put a price of five dollars for each, but a guy seized them within twenty minutes, and asked how much for the lot. I told him ten for the package. He rushed to pay me as if I might change my mind, and ran off before I could change my mind. LOL I would have given them to him free had I known he was janitor/handyman at a nearby church.

A great tool at any price

Versapak® 3.6V Rechargeable Screwdriver will be something I will use often for projects around the house.
I still have a B&D Rechargeable Screwdriver from over 20 years ago and it still works great however the Ni-Cad does not hold a charge as well anymore.

Pros: Torque setting, speed and strength

Cons: I wish it would have come with an extra battery and a place to hold the tips

Medum power, but goes and goes

Use this all the time to put in and take out all sorts of screws from wall plates and equipment. Fits in the hand well and the pivot gives it that extra balance. I have four (4) batteries and therefore the driver never stops turning screws. Then when the job is done, it straightens back out to fit nicely into the tool box.

Pros: There are three pros 1) pivoting handle gives it balance. 2) Uses all different styles of bits/tips. 3) fast easy battery change.

Cons: Sometimes the batteries don't last, but that isn't the screwdrivers fault.
