Good Sander

I bought this to touch up hardwood floors and help me with the siding. The siding was the most important thing I need and it is working better than any other solution i could come up with. I did break the belt that it came with, within 1 hour. That's a $10 belt too so hopefully that won't occur at that rate.

Pros: Powerful, keeps moving even with super rough surface, relatively inexpensive

Cons: Dust bag doesn't catch much, rollers filling with sawdust, tough on angle with siding, can't get under clapboard lips

Significant Issues, but it sands well

The sander is a powerful product capable of edge sanding at speed. The belts, especially post-first belt, are another issue. The device has an adjustment, but most 3" x 21" sanding belts track outward to such an extent that the adjuster does not move sufficiently to prevent the outward movement. Ironically, the first - black and decker provided belt - belt does not have this problem. (Thickness of the belt problems?) This problem is common and was solved - by cutting the device in the front with power tools to extend the adjustment range. In addition, less than 40 minutes into use, the device overheats. I have not had a product failure as a consequence, but prepare a heat resistant surface to rest the device on to prevent scorching the resting surface. I may eventually like this product, once I can stably use it again.

Pros: Rapid sanding

Cons: faulty belt adjustment, overheats quickly

Great Product, glad I selected this model

I have used this for a variety of jobs, including touching up the edges of a sanded floor, and modifying trim to fit out of true spots. It works exceptionally well for floor edges due to its unique design, it is lightweight and easy to use on other projects.

Pros: The smaller front drum enables the sander to fit into tight spaces and get close to floor edges. If the front door is lifted, it can get even closer (but be careful). The belt adjustment is easy, and needs less tinkering than the last sander I owned, which had to be adjusted constantly.

Cons: The only down side, and it is a small one, is that the inner workers fill up with sawdust often, and should be emptied every 10-20 minutes. (open belt assembly installer, open front door, hold sideways and gently tap). AS with most tools with a catch bag, very little sawdust actually goes into the collection bag.

Poor Instructions

Just bought it, and so won't evaluate its performance, but the instructions, all one and one-half pages of them, are nothing but drawings with arrows - not a word on them. So don't count on them to figure out the adjustments.

Pros: x

Cons: x

Great Belt Sander with lots of power and lightweight.

Really impressed with the power. lightweight. adjustable handle. Compact size. The front nose can get into tighter areas. The sawdust really goes into the bag. U can adjust the belt with ease. I've sanded a deck, picnic table and bench the 1st 2-days I had it. Handles very easily, just let do the work. Well ballanced!! It's worked out great. My arms were'nt sore after handling it all day!! I liked what I saw, when I researched for a new belt sander. Very glad I gave this one a try!!!

Pros: The weight and size. The dust collection. The smaller front end and the power. Adjustable handle!! How close you can get to the walls, really great.

Cons: Maybe needs a bigger dust bag, as it does collect the dust well. Everything else is perfect!!! How about a carrying case!!!! It's small enough!!!
