Batteries are hard to find

First, this site won't recognize any of the model numbers for my B&D power tools or charger, only the batteries. Second, they are not interchangeable with all the 24v tools. HPNB24 fits only my weed whacker. One of the 2 tabs on top of the battery blocks you from using it in the drill or any other tool (until I filed one tab off). The FS240BX batteries do work in all my tools and the weed whacker. I bought the kit with regular drill, recip saw, and circular saw then later bought a hammer drill and a weed whacker and an extra battery. One battery charger has died. The drills run great and for a long time but if using recip or circular saw or weed whacker, you need a lot of batteries. Circular saw will kill a battery after just a few cuts. Weed whacker will do around the house and around part of my fence with 4 batteries then I have to charge them all and finish the yard the next day. The batteries increasingly hold less and less charge. I have always tried to nearly fully discharge them before charging. If you have a short, quick job, these tools are great but you won't use them commercially or for large house projects unless you can afford to have 50 batteries charged on standby. I was really disappointed to find that the 24v tool was just a passing fad. They still sell 6v, 12v, and 18v and some higher voltage tools at Lowe's but the 24v Firestorm tools and batteries came and went quickly. Would have been nice if they had come out with NiMh or Lithium batteries to use in my Firestorm tools. I guess they (at B&D) expect that you will buy all new power tools every 2 years or so. I prefer my corded tools when I can use them but sometimes you don't have power available. I had to buy new batteries and a charger from an online retailer (not B&D) through Amazon. Got them charging now. Genuine B&D but this site won't let me register them. Got to say though, the tools have held up for several years. But that is mostly due to not having charged batteries, or knowing a battery tool won't get through the job. They are the tool of last choice when you can't run a cord to your work.

Pros: Provides a lot of power, portablility is great

Cons: Need too many batteries to finish a job, long charge time, short run time, high cost,

battery not worth buying again 24 volt

Bought 24 volt tool kit, was great when new. batteries didnt last very long. A hundred dollars to buy new ones. Now I have a very nice cordless tool kit that I cant use. Its nice to look at. Didnt use this kit alot. Not like a contractor would. Would not buy another 24 volt system again.

Pros: The drill works great, had alot of power. I have no problem with the tools just the batteries.

Cons: batteries

Don't waste your money on 24V Battery String Trimmer

The trimmer worked ok when new but the battery power for a trimmer is not a good idea. Couldn't even get through my front yard before the battery went dead. Now the battery is dead, won't charge and can't find one to buy and based on all the reviews, I won't be wasting my money on another. The trimmer is only 2 years old. I have a Black & Decker hedge trimmer, electric, that lasted almost 20 years so it's the battery powered items you need to stay away from, in my opinion.

Pros: Worked ok when new.

Cons: Didn't get my money's worth out of the string trimmer.

very good when new

Nice power when new. Battery life not what expected from B & D. Bought 2nd 24v Drill when onsale to have 2nd battery. Alternate batteries each time. 1 battery will not take a charge now, and the other runs out too quickly to finish even a small project. Done, moving on to something else.

Pros: Strong, powerful drill when new.

Cons: Poor overall battery performance. Replacement only available thru B & D, and expensive.

This Battery Isreally bad JUNK

In the past I have been a Black and Decker buyer. Using this battery and the 4 tools associated with it is the worst tool experience I have ever had and gives me a bad taste in my mouth for Stanley and Black and Decker.

Pros: Nothing is good about this battery. I see Stanley stock is at $86.00 up $20.00 from it's low of $65.00. I believe it might make a good short.

Cons: The battery has never held a charge and now is completely dead. I will never purchase a Black and Decker cheap Product again. This product drags down the Stanley name. I am going to give my 4 tools associated with this battery to Good Will. Maybe someone will have better luck with this junk
