don't buy

I had the previous model, gh1000 . the string is quirky at best and evrytime i use it i had to put new string on . It a very time consuming job. Now today the gear that the belt runs on has melted. I can buy a new belt @3.75 but the gear is part of the motor assembly (@ $71.0 ). It's not that old maybe 3 years and it's basically garbage now Don't buy it it doesn't work that well and when it breaks ,which it will, you can't repair it.
Ask around, what peoples percieved quality of Black and Decker is , you can be sure they will say it is not very good . I now agree , my B and D lawn mower , not too old, struggles through grass of any lenth.
Fool me once but not again , spend the money and get something good.

Pros: It plugs in and was powerful

Cons: re-stringing all the time, resetting the string. It broke and can't be fixed , now it's garbage . Very bad for the enviroment. more waste of my money and resources.

DON'T DO IT! DON'T BUY IT! DO NOT BUY BLACK AND DECKER PRODUCTS!

You can't rewind the string yourself...it just doesn't work. I've had it apart, carefuuly rewound the outer spool section, rewound the inner spool section, just like the manual instructs. The inner spool blows out all the line as soon as you turn it on! I've read numerous other reviews with the same problem.
I KICK MYSELF FOR NOT CHECKING REVIEWS FIRST BEFORE PURCHASING THIS JUNK!

Pros: The end of it sticking out of my garbage can

Cons: The garbage man was late today picking up the trash.

Sophisticated peice of junk !!

Very powerful with potential for good work but with a terrible design flaw!

Pros: Powerful - not bad handling -good cut radius

Cons: Horrible design flaw- metal cog driving rubber belt that drives a plastic cog on drive shaft. Without a clutch if line gets wrappeed up or stuck the belt slips on the (irreplaceble) plastic drive shaft cog and @ 7200 RPM it melts it in a matter of seconds renedering it useless. HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW !!!

Quirky at Best

Originally I rated this as a waste of money. It would run through a spool of line doing one edge of the short driveway. The only advantage was it was very powerful.

I decided to play around with it. After a bunch of hit and misses I discovered it actually worked great if I used only one line - not two. Also loaded only the top line (closest to the ground). This thing has been buzzing through my edging like a champ ever since. It has so much power that it makes perfectly straight edges about as fast as I can walk, even if there is a thick patch of crabgrass. Occasionally it reverts to eating a bunch of line. I simply stop and rewind the line and all is well. I am willing to put up with this quirkiness since it does such a good job, very quickly.

Pros: It's power.

Cons: It works only with one line and every so often will digest a large chunk of line while cutting nothing. Having to rewind the line is annoying.

It works great for me!

I bought my first B&D trimmer about 4 years ago and I use it a lot. I found out early-on to "carefully" put in a new spool and never really had a problem. Since I use it hard, my first one finally wore out and I had to replace it the other day. The only one I looked at was an identical "High Performance 7.2A 14" String Trimmer". It has power when I need it!

Pros: I like the power - it really gets the job done. I also love the dual strings - much better than a "one-string" trimmer.

Cons: Reloading a new spool can be a bit tricky - but I've made it work just fine.
