Hands Down! The Best Rotary Tool You Can Get!!!
I purchased the RTX years ago, when it came with a durable black case! LOVED IT! Apparently, someone Loved It just as much as I did, maybe even more, cause it got stolen from me out of my vehicle! Damn nearly cried! All the little extra goodies I had gotten for it, like a 20pc Diamond tip set, were gone! Oh well, what can you do!

The versatility, workmanship, durability, speed, easy maintenance, easy to use! Parts for it are universal! Grab some safety glasses, cause you will not want to put it down! Oh yeah, one mre thing, THE PRICE!!!!

How much money I spent prior to purchasing my RTX, PERIOD!!!

I use this product for carving

I hang this product from a bar above my head and use the flexable shaft.

The only thing is that I have used this product so much that I burned out the bushing in it. I i can't figure out how to change them. Is it possible to change the bushing ?????

    Best Rotary tool I've used
My kids gave me a new RTX for father's day, a replacement for the old one that died after 10 years of use, misuse & abuse. I bought my first rotary tool (a B&D Versapak Wizard) nearly 15 years ago, and as handy as it was, it didn't take me long to figure out that a battery powered tool couldn't quite hack it, and I upgraded to the RTX - these have way more power than any other brand I've used (those are like the Wizard, with a cord attached). In addition to the power, the RTX has a heft to it that the others lack, from the time you hold it you can almost feel the power, the build quality in it. The ergonomic grip lets you choose how you want to hold it, pencil style by the tip for delicate work or wrap your hand around it when the need arises - you do have to watch for the exhaust if you hold it this way though. I've used it to cut drywall, ceramic tile, sheet steel, plastic, bolts, nails, precision sanding, drilling, polishing, remove rust, and those are just a few that I remember

What's not to like about it - the flip lock is very convenient, the ergonomic design, the rubber grips, the fully variable speed controller (the three speeds are actually detented positions not switched speeds as on the competition), the power is awesome. I guess it is a plus that it accepts bits & accessories from other manufacturers because that's what I see in the stores and what end up I using with mine, not by choice, but because that's all I can find - B&D needs to be more aggressive marketing their products instead of letting the competition walk away with the business, because I'm pretty sure there's money being made selling those bits.

Probably the only way to improve this tool is to improve what's offered with it - a nice fitted case with storage for bits and maybe a flex shaft - I keep mine in the case the old Wizard came in. Oh - the rubber coating on the flip lock of the old RTX didn't last very long - it didn't affect the function in any way. It might also benefit from a dust shield - the user guide shows it being used for "side cutting" ceiling tile, and mentions cutting drywall for outlet boxes - here's the problem with that - I used mine to cut a drywall ceiling for two outlet boxes - the drywall dust is very abrasive and when the cut is above the tool, the dust falls into the nose of the tool and the bearing can wear rapidly - this is not a problem cutting a wall, or any time the tool is above the work - I'm not suggesting a modification to the tool, but an accessory to the side cutting kit, so that it can be removed when not required, which will probably be most of the time.

all of the power you need
Went for this model because of the name and other brands that rhyme with zremel just don’t hold up to my constant use in the wood art projects that I make. Some can be seen at sensarium dot com. Regardless of the bit I put in the changeable inserts makes it possible to use fine and coarse bits. There is ample power to really bare down on the hardest woods and the tool just laughs. If you cover the air holes the tool does tend to overheat so where you have your hand needs to be watched. When the tool does finally quit, I will have most likely got my money’s worth.

For some reason I like the feel of the tool in my hand. It seemed a lot heaver than some of the others in the home improvement centers where I looked at the product. Don’t bother to ask a salesperson about them, because they were in gardening last week.

If the tool had more air exhausts that would be at a 90 degree angle so your hand would not block them it would be nice.

Great Value and overall Well Thought out Design!
The Rotary Tool has a number of advances over the 'D' competitor and rotary copies. Soft rubber bumber on butt and front textures make it easy to handle as well prevent damage if dropped and the thin rubber grip nose makes it easy to hold as a pencil and get close to the action. The flip lock and on off switch are easy to use and smartly placed. and the three speed is actually variable from the lowest to higest settings on the model I have. Soft rubber cord makes it easy roll/unroll out and to use in cold temperatures Powerful 2amp motor is nearly twice the 1.1amp or 1.6 amp for even more expensivce brands- low vibration- quiet at low speeds.I'm worked with power tools for 40 years and this is a Good Quality Build Tight specs on overall fit and finish. Good Value at a Great Price with overall Great Functionality! Nice touch with the color book insert showing newbies what you can do with it in a nice brochure like book.

Price Quality and Value and Power

Nothing really -All Positive but maybe B&D -you could include a nice Orange Hard plastic case to protect the tool in transport!(= Outside of that its a win!

I've used this tool for a year now and am totally pleased with it. The flip lock for attatchment replacement is so much nicer than the push button type. I highly recomend this to anyone looking to buy a rotary tool.

I'm handicapped and the flip lock shaft lock is awesome
