    Strangely inconsistent design and quality
I was happy to see this at Home Depot because I'd been looking for quite some time for a jumpstart device that included both a compressor and a built-in inverter in a relatively compact package. The compressor and inverter work well and the product ably jumped my car today despite dumping into a dead car battery at the same time. I like that the charger circuit is built-in, instead of using a wall wart. It's slow, but you can very rapidly recharge when needed by using a high-current 12V battery charger connected to the PPRH5B's clamps -- red to red, black to black. But then there's the weird physical design. There's a large handle on the side of the unit, which prompts one to carry it hanging from that handle. But there are no feet molded into the opposite side! Set it down as seems intuitive, and you're setting it on the lamp and cord spool, and it falls over! Not good, for something so heavy. It's a matter of time before I forget and set it down hard, crushing the lamp.

Functional, works well, strong battery, USB port is nice to have. More compact than other devices I've seen with the same features. Built-in charger circuit, instead of a wall wart. Has a 500W inverter, better than the 300W inverter on a similar product I used to own (which had no compressor).

You can't set it down on the side opposite the handle. What were they thinking? Doesn't come with cords for charging, from either a car or a wall outlet, though fortunately any normal 2 or 3 prong extension cord works well. Internal charger is pretty slow. Minor gripe, USB port is limited to 0.5 amps of current, when for a few bucks I can buy a 120VAC or 12VDC adapter that will do 2 or 3 amps per port. My old B&D 40-amp automotive 12V charger (BC40EWB) is one of the most awesome battery tools I own; I was expecting similar quality and good, thoughtful design from this product. I've been somewhat disappointed.

    Mediocre at Best!
first time use was jump start an 8 cyl car. Didn't start the engine. Unit had green light indicator showing full charge per manual,(yes, there was a manual in the box) I recently plugged in a lamp to run down the battery and then full recharge to cycle the battery only the unit won't fully recharge. At least according to the charge lights, now only one red light comes on after 12 hrs of charging. don't know what to think.

the plugging in a lamp worked well, about 3 hrs. Also air compressor works well.

I would not call this unit a jump starter based on my experience. With a full charge (green indicator light on for full charge) it wouldn't jump start a car 8cyl. engine. Can't get unit to fully recharge.

This is a mediocore product but does get the job done in a pinch.
Mine did come with a manual unlike some of the other comments I have read. It does not come with a electrical charging cord. You must use an extension cord and it plugs directly to the unit and charges that way.

The PS will run my laptop or jump a car off. Inflating a tire is also a quality feature. The power inverter is a nice emergency feature as well.

I least like that there was no charging cord for the car included. In the manual it shows the car charger but in parenthesis says not included. Not enough info on the outside of the packaging to make a really good decision.

As stated in the other review, I thought I lost the manual! There is none and no charge cord. I tried to use it once and it did not jump my truck. I don't know if it is me or the unit. If I had a manual I could check it out. I may just return it for lack of knowledge.

    I don't know.

    Incomplete in box !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Heavy is good right?

No cable for recharging or manual, nor is that stated in the product description. Black and Decker seems like they dedicated all their time and effort on their branding and making the device orange, rather then design an amazing product. I kept poking the plug thinking it would extend to charge, how hard could that have been? I am worried that this device will not work when needed, if they overlooked basic use of the device; how can you assume they got the internals correct? Many people are reporting short circuits and burning.
