Great idea, horrible execution

The 1st few times that I used this sander, I loved it. Well, I'm over all of the attachments & the cute little bag. Problems began when I was using the contouring tool; as soon as I turned on the sander, the tool would immediately shoot across the work area. With luck, I'd have time to press the Mouse against the project so that the piece couldn't escape. I was almost at my wit's end with the rubber bit shooting across the room, when the sander got very loud. That's when THE ENTIRE VIBRATING PLATFORM FELL OFF. Seriously. After 3.5 uses, the Mouse literally fell apart. I thought that perhaps a screw had vibrated loose, but closer inspection revealed that the 3 plastic pins which had joined the platform and base looked as though they'd been cut. Customer service directed me to a repair center, which informed me I'd be financially responsible for repairs. During 2nd call to B&D, was told I'd be sent a new unit whose design has not been updated at all. Maybe I'll get 3 more uses from it
Pros:

Small and easy to grasp; great for accessing tough-to-reach spots; an attachment for every task.

Cons:

Shoddy construction; poorly designed; attachments (specifically the contour attachment) will not stay attached; dust collector will not stay attached; terrible, cheap product; company fails to remedy issues with product's design.

They spared every expense in designing this tool

Junk. It has plastic gears inside on the motor and the orbital part. They wore out after only about 15 sheets of sand paper. I like the shape of the sander and was happy with it until it stripped the gears. It has been over a year that I purchased it and I cannot find the receipt anyway.
Pros:

The shape of the pad

Cons:

I don't need a paper weight which is what it is now.

Pros:

So far, for regular sanding seems fine.

Cons:

Attachments pop off, cant get the contour attachment to stay on! And, hard to hold onto.

Does it's intended job, but poorly made. Ok if you don't mind replacements every 6 months to 3 years.

I purchased this item to assist with small home projects and repairs. The first sander worked fine for several years, then the motor burned out. I didn't bother contacting Black and Decker because I figured it was past the warranty date, so I bought a replacement just six months ago. After using the sander on only a few light-duty home projects, the second one burned out. I returned it to Home Depot, along with my receipt, but they would not exchange it. As it is the weekend, I can do nothing until Monday, but I certainly hope that Black and Decker is willing to honor an replacement at no charge, if a better product exists. If they will not, then I will shop for a better built item from a competitor and forgo purchases from this company in the future. Will post my experience after such time.
Pros:

Accessories

Cons:

Poor motor construction. Have purchased two of these in less than two years due to burned-out motors.

very disappointed going with another vendor.

mouse detail sander Purchased last week. going back this week. Using it with a Black and Decker Belt Sander (Very Good) and a Craftsman finishing sander. The Craftsman is about 30 years old the Black and Decker Belt Sander is a replacement for one that lasted about 30 years as well. My use of these tools is sanding down about 10 4 panel Pine doors The belt sander is great!
Pros:

The manufacturer makes good intermediate tools that are usually perfect for a person with my skills\ or lack of skills. If it worked as proposed, I would be content (even with the expensive consumables)

Cons:

The tool is under-powered. It has an uncomfortable handle. IT DOES NOT REMOVE PAINT FROM THE DETAILING MOLDING ON THE 4 PANEL DOORS! There was not much paint to remove, and the sandpaper does not last very long at all. I tried various grades of sandpaper for the job, and always believe in letting the tool do the job! I ended up having to Hand-sand to complete one door! I did hand sand with rough sandpaper to assist the productivity of the tool but that did not work!

I like the small compact size is great for a woman who has small hands such as myself
Pros:

the size

Cons:

the attachments pop off while in use and the sand paper comes off also. I don't like the fact I am forced to buy exclusive velcro sand paper to use with this product only.

Great Sander needs a handle and beefing up,

Had my MS800B for almost a year. I am not an avid wood worker but I do a few projects. I used the Contour attachment and made it through about 6 cabinet door edges before the unit broke.
Pros:

When it was working it was great. really handled hard to get to spots well.

Cons:

Doesn't seem very robust and was hard to hold on to, especially when the attachements were in use.
