    I had the shredder for a little over a year, and used it only occasionally in my home,as I have not been living at home much. I've used it probably less than 2 dozen times...also following directions closely. I used it only on paper, and it did a nice job for the short time it lasted. One day, I too emptied the bin, then hit the switch to shred some more and nothing, zip, nada, dead. I used to trust B&Decker, but those days are done. Fool me once,yep; fool me twice-never.
    Pros:

    Nice looking machine. Worked well the short time it worked.

    Cons:

    Planned obsolescence to the point of absurdity. Insane to stop after this little use. Hugely disappointed in B&D...your lack of care of your customers is not appreciated.

    I have had this shredder for less than a year and never shredded anything but paper in it and all of a sudden it has just stopped working. The power boost button has never worked. Now I have to go buy a new shredder...I thought this one was the best for me since it was a good name brand. Very unhappy with this product.
    Pros:

    I like the size of it and the fact that it fit perfectly on the side of my desk.

    Cons:

    I will never buy a black and decker shredder again. Not a very good choice for spending my hard earned money.

    Bought this product about 2 years ago and worked fine until this week. Only used occasionally so it was not over-used by any means. Very disapointed because I now have to buy another shredder.
    Pros:

    Great fit for space where I stored it when not in use.

    Cons:

    Didn't last long enough for the price paid.

    I don’t use it every day, but often enough. I have had no trouble with it at all, but I follow the instructions. I don’t feed it for ten minutes, I keep it down to what the manual says. If it does over heat, it is supposed to shut off to protect itself. I haven’t had that happen. I have fed it thick stock and credit cards with no trouble.
    Pros:

    I paid the extra money compared to cheaper ones for safety concerns. I have an Alaskan Malamute that is fascinated by shredders. She stuck a refrigerator magnet in my last shredder while I was at work and burned it out. She could easily have caught a paw, tongue, or collar tags in it while it was running. This one has a switch on the back of it, plus a locking cover protects the secondary switch and the feed slot. It will be much tougher for her to do that again!

    Cons:

    There really isnt' anything that I don't like about it. I"m very happy with it!

    I purchased this shredder in 2009 just because of the name brand, I was not entirely happy but did like some of the features. Now the shredder has stop working, and it isn't even two years old yet. I was hoping to get five years out of this shredder since I don't use it everyday. I would not recommend this item.
    Pros:

    I like the basket view and the safe guard protection.

    Cons:

    I don't like the basket indicator, it goes off when the trash is not even half full, the system gets hot very fast and stops running. The product doesn't have a long life.

    bin light comes on when bin a little more than half full. bin has to be emptied too often, needs bigger bin
