Cool Gadget Tool Gift... not for heavy use

My wife gave this nifty wrench to me as a birthday or Christmas gift a few years ago. I've used it several times when I wanted a convenient way to torque down a leaking garden hose on an outdoor spigot or something like that. The batteries died in it a couples days ago, replaced them but the motor couldn't automatically close the jaws. It could only open them. I was disappointed, searched for advice from other owners & couldn't find anything positive about the wrench. At least my wrench's belt hadn't broken. I tried spraying the top & bottom of the thumb wheel pin on either side of the wrench with WD-40 and that lubricated it enough so the motor opens & closes the jaws just as fast when the wrench was brand new! I'm happy this wrench won't be tossed in the junk heap now.
    Pros:

Automatically adjusts the wrench quickly when your other hand is holding something else in place. Hang tab is useful for hanging wrench from a peg board.

    Cons:

Not meant for high torque or tight spaces. Instructions don't mention it requires lubrication. Motor belt is flimsy & should be offered as a service part.

Isn't anybody paying attention at B & D. This wrench is JUNK.

It was on sale at Home Depot for $3.00 (now I know why!). When I got home I started to try it out. When held so that the motor has to lift the movable jaw the motor stalled. I thought that customers playing with it in store the had run the AAA batteries down. So I replaced the batteries with with new AAA alkaline batteries and the results are the same. The motor does not have sufficient power to lift the movable jaw. Further in a tool box other tools a tool is likely to operate the switch which would run the jaw to one end or the other of its travel leaving the motor stalled until it ran the batteries flat, probably in much less than one hour. How can B&D management allow such junk to be sold under its name. If they had given this tool to even five of their DIY employees the would have quickly found its serious shortcomings. No decent mechanic would give this poorly engineered tool three minutes of his time. Don't buy one, if you have return it and get your money back.
    Pros:

I thought it would be convenient to have it automatically tighten on a hidden nut or bolt. If it worked properly and wouldn't kill it batteries in a tool box that might justify its existence. Heck, if they had even given this tool to a eight year old boy with any experience with tools he would have quickly discovered its shortcomings.

    Cons:

JUNK - weak motor. JUNK - in a tool box it will kill its batteries.

Novelty Item not for heavy use

Bought the Auto Wrench for full Retail price $30.00 and used it maybe once in 3 years. When the batteries went dead, I replaced them only to find out that the Auto Wrench no longer worked. I could not pin point the problem but it was probably the small electric belt drive motor. Now out of warranty, it is not worth spending more money or time to fix it.
    Pros:

    Auto Adjust

    Cons:

Big and Bulky, Weak Motor and drive system, Over Priced, Only 2 Year Warranty, Loose Tolerances

I purchased the Automatic Adjustable Wrench app. a year ago. Used it one time. Tried to use it today but it would not auto-adjust. Removed cover and found the small flimsy belt that turns the cork screw was broken. What a piece of junk. Advise......Don't purchase.
    Pros:

    novelty

    Cons:

    No durability

    Not what I hoped for

Always looking at new tools to help with my projects. Have had it for a couple of years and have only used it a couple of times, just because it was in my tool bag.
    Pros:

    Interesting concept.

    Cons:

No what I hope for. Not very convenient and poor battery life. Sorry.

    Meh...

I've had this in my tool box for a couple years or more. I've used it exactly once. Sure it's convenient to use one handed but it doesn't tighten hardly at all. You still have to fuss with the screw to tighten it sufficiently.
    Pros:

The kids like to play with it.

    Cons:

It's not nearly as useful as I had hoped.

Does was a gadget tool should do. Great for that extra hand. Not engineered for hard work but rather for holding a bolt as another wrench tighten the nut type of work.
    Pros:

Open and closes very quickly. Easy to use one handed. Narrow profile.

    Cons:

    Doesn't clamp down tightly.

Great idea...... not enough torque to hold

I found the wrench did not stay closed on the nut tightly enough to perform the jobs I was using the wrench for. Bought it on a big markdown after Christmas. Probably would not have bought it on my own for the regular price.
    Pros:

The concept works well when you are working in tight spaces and/or can't use both hands.

    Cons:

A little bulky and the wrench is not tight enough for removing tight nuts.
