Frequently Asked Questions

How do I hang the laser level on the wall?

The laser level can be attached to a wall using either the temporary wall mounting suction cup, or in rare circumstances for non smooth surfaces, a pin which is stored on the back of the base.

What wall surfaces are ideal for the temporary wall mounting suction cup?

The temporary wall mounting suction cup should only be used on smooth impermeable surfaces such as painted drywall, primed drywall, glass and most plastic and metal.

How do I attach and remove the temporary wall mounting suction cup from the wall?

To attach the temporary wall mounting suction cup, place on wall in approximate location of item to be leveled and push in on the suction cup button. Once you are finished using the level, pull the rubber release tab above the suction cup and pull it straight off the wall.

Will the temporary wall mounting suction cup leave a mark on the wall once I remove it?

There should be no mark left on the wall from the temporary suction cup. In the rare instance that the suction cup is left on the wall for an extended period of time, any resulting marks can be removed with warm soapy water and a damp cloth.

In which orientation can I use the laser level?

The laser line and bubble vial are only level when used in a horizontal manner. The level should not be used for vertical (or plumb) leveling.

The laser level light is blinking red, what does that mean?

If the laser level light in the bubble vial is blinking red, it could mean that the batteries are weak. Try turning off the unit and replacing the batteries. If you turn the unit back on and the problem doesn’t go away, please contact Black & Decker customer service at 1(800)544-6986.

Can I use the laser level without the wall mounting suction cup?

Yes, you can remove the laser level from the wall mounting device and use it on flat surfaces to level shelves, desk, refrigerators, etc.

How do I align items to the left and right of my SureGrip laser level?

The SureGrip laser level wall attachment has a strong magnet that attracts to the metal plate located under the Black & Decker label on either side of the product. While the laser line only projects from one side of the product, the device can be flipped to project a laser line in either direction.

How do I level something when I can’t see the level change from red to green?

The SureGrip laser level comes with an audio feature to help you level when the bubble vial and color change is out of site.  To activate this feature, push in the audio on/off button on the side of the device, the laser level will beep increasingly as you get closer to level. When the item is leveled, the beeping signal will become continuous and then stop.
