I thought I had the best, and now I know I do.

2008 I purchased my 18V B&D trimmer. I thought I had the best trimmer anyone had ever made. The string advance worked perfectly, a big problem on other trimmers I've had. Plenty of power for most "normal" trimming. With 2 batteries I could nearly finish my lawn in one shot. Then the batteries ( I thought) started to fail. $38 for a new one seemed "just too much". I would wait until I could get by until I could afford a new trimmer. Recently(2012) a local store ran a special on 18V B&D trimmers. A newer designed trimmer, 2 batteries and another charger, all for less than the price of the 2 batteries. Hot Dog. But in addition, what I didn't realize, was that the new design includes a much higher speed on the cutting. I now finish my lawn on one of the "old" batteries. With 2 chargers and 4 batteries, I need more B&D 18V tools. 'o)
Pros:

Value priced. Good performance. Overall long life. Name brand for parts.

Cons:

There is nothing I would change, except maybe, trade my older "slower" trimmer for the new high speed and give one to my kids for their yard. I don't really need 2 any more. 'o)

buy lots of batteries

Are you tired of rebuilding carbs? Are you tired of replacing fuel lines? This trimmer poses different issues. How many bateries can you buy? Don't forget to buy extra chargers. This is a good unit, average quality. I was impressed with the motor. The battery life is the other side of terrible. About 20 minutes. I guess they need to cool down before recharging. They only lasted 10 minutes the next time. my yard is only 3/4 acre. Don't trim all of it. Currently waiting on batteries to charge. Also debating on returning product.
Pros:

motor, twist shaft, lightweight

Cons:

battery life, only 1 charger, recharge time, did i mention battery life.

A nice gift for the wife.

I allways stop by the Black & Decker store, when returning from V.A. appointments. I saw this one had 2 batteries, and decided if it worked awhile and quit, I still had the newer batteries. I got back, told her that her gift was out in my truck. She was like a kid with a new toy. I had to get a battery off the cordless drill, while the others charged. She hit all the wooden post on the Ranch Style Fence we built.and the edger at the driveway. The St Augustine had taken away any edge that one might look for on a cement driveway.
Pros:

Easy to use, lightweight, quiet. My wife thought it was really her's, as I also have a gas one she hates. To this day, nearly a year later, she still thinks it's hers, and as far as I'm concerned, it is her's, lol. Certainly has acted well for her. It may be her technique, but the string part works great as well.

Cons:

It is hard to find a con. She took it out the box, and no complaints from her yet. Oh I had to show her how to charge one, while she works the other.I just think all electrical items should have smaller, but efficient solar panels. Electric cars, and no solar panels, it certainly might increase the miles, or time, of battery go-go.

Great trimmer

Nice trimmer. The One Source battery feature is very nice and with all my other B&D yard tools keeps me workingmore than I want to.
Pros:

Light weight. One Source Battery feature. Quit.

Cons:

Line seems a bit short. A double line would be nice.

Have only used trimmer once, but it seem's to handle my trimming needs. Having multiple battery operated products, these seem to last just as long.

Satisfied so far
Pros:

No starting issues.

Cons:

Could stand to be a little longer as I'm 6'1" and find myself stooping over to trim and edge

Great until it died in four months with little use

I was really happy with this trimmer until it sent up clouds of smoke and emitted that yucky electrical burning smell while I was working with it this evening. I found out the closest repair place is about 85 miles away.
Pros:

Light weight, decent battery life and performance and quiet compared to our gas trimmer. I like using this one.

Cons:

The motor burnt up after 4 months of very light use. I found out I have to find a box, pay to ship it up to Tampa ( 85 miles away) and then wait for it to come back.

Good product, but best for small to medium sized jobs.

Easy to assemble; simple to use. Two batteries need 8-9 hours to charge each. Not too heavy, cuts well, but batteries last only about 15-20 minutes each when run almost continually - the two batteries are a necessity, not a luxury. Not as powerful or quick to cut as my very old gas trimmer that finally died recently. This trimmer cuts grass and tender weeds well enough, but can't cut through the stems of tougher weeds like mature tall goldenrods. The unit seems sturdy, with a strong aluminum shaft. The length adjustment is simple, but the lock mechanism to hold the handle in the trim or edge positions is fairly weak and will allow the shaft to rotate while you are working. I hope the NiCad batteries last at least a couple of years - based on my first usage of the trimmer, I expect that normal maintenance trimming for me will use up one battery's full charge to trim around the margins of a half-acre lawn.
Pros:

I like the cordless electric concept - I'm growing concerned about the longevity of small 2-cycle engines either due to poor quality of manufacturing in foreign lands, or ethanol in gasoline, or finicky settings due to pollution control requirements, or to the need to perform more maintenance to baby them. My older lawn equipment used to last decades, but newer gear has become hard to start or runs very roughly after only a couple of years. Electric motors tend to last longer due to simpler design, fewer moving parts, and avoidance of ethanol issues, tuneup needs and oil/gas mixing. I like that the unit comes with two batteries - I'll often use both to cover my trimming needs. I like the availability of replacement batteries at local stores, and that the same battery can be used on other B&D power tools, though I don't own other s at present. I like the Black and Decker brand - an old corded trimmer I owned, and my current corded hedge trimmer, lasted a long time.

Cons:

The trimmer uses up a battery charge pretty fast - about 15-20 minutes under near constant running. I don't know how many charge cycles the Ni/Cad batteries will last through, although other Ni/Cad types I've used in the past didn't last as long as I would have liked. I passed over another brand's 20-volt lithium ion trimmer partly because it came with only one battery, and because it was more expensive.

This is the worst product,if possible choose another trimmer

I failed to read the reviews prior to purchasing this product. As everyone before says..THE WORST TRIMMER ON THE MARKET. 100% not satisfied and a customer. If you have 20 minutes or less to trim, this one is for you. I will not recommend
Pros:

Pro's: makes me realize I should have chosen another brand/product

Cons:

Highly dissappointed. How can I get a refund?
