Batteries (2) just finished my yard. It just began smoking and started burning while I was trimming. Didn't get the yard done cause it just quit! It's longevity didn't impress me!
    Pros:

It work well before it burned up during trimming my yard.

    Cons:

It burnt up while I was trimming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Battery Life is horrible

It's easy enough to use but even with 2 batteries I can't finish my front and back yard. I can fully charge one battery unplug and charge the 2nd battery, the first battery rapidly looses it's charge without even being used, so I'm back to only one fully charged battery.
    Pros:

    Easy to use

    Cons:

Battery life is awful. I wouldn't buy this again or recommend to anyone. Completely inefficient!

Effective on a fully charged battery

Got this as a father's day gift with a leaf blower. Have three batteries that can fit either. The units are both affective when using a fully charged battery. Unfortunately, the batteries do not last long enough and the power begins to diminish quickly. The trimmer motor just burnt out after 3 years. Have purchased the Lithium battery trimmer. Hope for better results.
    Pros:

Light weight, mobile (no cords) and doesn't require gas. Effective at edging and trimming. I like having one tool to do both operations.

    Cons:

The battery life. Does not last long enough and power wanes too quickly. Would recommend a second battery for any operator.

Batteries are worthless, takes 8 hours to charge and only last for about 10-15 minutes, even with 2 batteries I cannot trim my small yard.
    Pros:

lightweight, easy to switch from trimmer to edger

    Cons:

    battery life

Works fine when fully charged, but only for a short period of time.
    Pros:

    Lightweight and cordless.

    Cons:

Battery life is not sufficient. Battery only lasts 10 minutes or so when fully charged. Would like to know if there is a solution.

    right for the price

I am 71 and have to do all the lawn care by my self. This trimmer works just fine for me. I have even re-filled the spools and that worked ok. I am trying to get another charger so both batteries can be ready to go as I have 2.5 acres to do. My neighbor watched me then ask where I got mine and now he too is using one and very happy too.
    Pros:

light weight and easy to use. I like that I can adjust the handle and height for the different jobs I am doing

    Cons:

need 2 chargers so both batteries are ready to go...no waiting when busy. wish it had a wheel on it for edging would make it easier

    Scaled Down My Equipment

I had to sell my Stihl FS 103R because of it's weight due to a recent heart attack/bladder combo issue so weight was important to me. This is extremely lightweight, especially for the pittance I paid for it. I was surprised that it worked as well as it did, too. I have a lot of trimming on my yard and it takes both batteries (2 in box) to complete the job, but that was expected in advance. So far, I am completely pleased with it since I was coming off of commercial grade equipment.
    Pros:

Weight, price ($80 at Lowes), ease of assembly, supplied with 2 batteries, and warranty. I spent $175 for a different brand that didn't do nearly the job this one does and I took it back in less than 2 hours.

    Cons:

Takes longer to trim my yard in comparison to my Stihl, but still does a good job.

    Awesome little trimmer

I bought this model because I have a moderate sized property, hate being tethered by a cord and did not want to pay for a gas trimmer and the batteries were compatible with other tools that would work fine for what I needed. Between all of my tools I have 4 batteries so I've always got a fresh charge. It's great to throw in the truck to trim at my club house or even my mother-in-laws. If you want to chop down a forest, buy a different tool. As long as I use the proper string size it had fed string flawlessly. I recommend this product to anyone who has similar expectations.
    Pros:

It's easy. From operation, to reloading string to changing batteries and switching from trimmer to edger this is an awesome piece of equipment for the light to moderate duty trimming needs.

    Cons:

I'm 6'2 and it's just a little bit too short for me. It needs larger print telling only to use the proper size line. Anything larger and it will not feed automatically.

Not as good as the prevoius model

Works well as long as the battery is full. The charger with this model does not fully charge the battery. I have a B & D charger that charges different size battery which fully charges this model's battery
    Pros:

Light weight, changes from trimmer to edger easily

    Cons:

Batter charger doesn't fully charge the battery

Have used this item for over 5 years. Well made and easy to use.

Black & Decker Edger/Trimmer purchased in 2008 along with a Blower, Cordless Drill and Double Charger that all use the HBP18 18volt Battery of which I have 9 Batteries.
    Pros:

All products use the same HBP18 Battery and the Edger/Trimmer is easy to use. The Batteries have a 2-year warranty and Black & Decker has replaced a total of 20 Batteries over a 5-year period due to there not holding up for the 2-years.

    Cons:

The Batteries do not last through the 2-year warranty. The Edger/Trimmer has just developed a squeak and I am checking with B&D to see if this can be repaired and where to send it along with length of time for repair. The Batteries only last about 10-15 minutes when new and fully charged. THERE ARE GOOD THINGS (PROS) ABOUT THESE PRODUCTS AND THERE ARE BAD THINGS (CONS).
