    Good tool
Bought the Gator in Dec 2009. Have used it maybe a dozen times/year. It works good on both soft and hardwoods up to about 3" dia. I have limited use of my right hand so I had to tape one of the handle switches in order to use it. Also bought 2 extra batteries and chain.

Whenever I have a lot of wood to cut, I go to a Stihl chainsaw. But for convenience on small jobs, I always choose the Gator. Still using the original chain.

Always have to plan ahead before using. The batteries always must be charged before use. It takes about 12 hours to charge. If a Li-ion battery and charger were available, I'd rate this product 5 stars.

    Very satisfied
I got this product to trim some large bushes with a lot of dead wood. Could not have worked any better. Battery was very adequate.

Much safer than a chain saw and battery powered.

A little awkward at first. It is described as a lopper so i tried using it as one when it really is a small chain saw. Any tool needs to be respected but this really did a nice job.

Amazing- even easier to use than I had hoped!!
I'm a 62 year old woman but was determined to fight back the bushes and "volunteers" that were taking over my yard. I don't do well with regular loppers- too hard to keep sharp and take a lot of work. So when I found this product, I was really hoping it would make trimming easier. And it did. I couldn't believe how fast I could take down big volunteer trees, trim overgrown bushes and so on! I love it!

The jaws make it much easier to use and safer than a regular chain saw. And it is small enough and lightweight enough for me to handle. I was so impressed I went out and bought the 18v line trimmer. I LOVE the way the batteries are interchangeable between the tools!

Nothing- except now I have to figure out how to dispose of all the branches I've cut down!

Saves wear and tear on our bodies, and does a great job!
To create defensible space and reduce danger of forest fire, we had to clear out a quarter acre of young white firs. We're not young, able-bodied or wealthy enough to hire the work done. We'd been hacking away at these trees, first using a pruning saw that wore us out quickly and then a chain saw that was too heavy and make our backs ache. Then we chanced upon an ad for this "gator" and knew we'd found just the thing. Using this tool, we were able to finish in 10 hours (spaced over 5 days) a job that we feared would take us years at the rate we'd been going. We've been recommending this thing to everybody.

It's light weight, cordless, has excellent safety features and cuts through limbs (or young trunks) up to 4".

What's not to like? If it never wears out, it's perfect!

only chain my wife will use
My wife and I both use this tool... I think that I have own this tool for 3 to 4 years on love it... I have been in Black and Decker outlet stores and have talked 6 or 7 others into buying this tool. the wife uses it all the time for limb clean up in the yard... what I really like about this chain saw is that because the chain is protected it stays sharp... with other saws no matter careful you are you are going to get the blade dull cutting the ground.

    1) it is safe.... and because of that the wife use it 2) the chain stays sharp for a long time 3) it is grab and cut.... I pull it from the shelve slap a fresh battery in and it is ready 4) it uses the same battery as a bunch of my hand tools and yard tools... so I have a few extra batteries around

the chain oiler could be better....

Lopper works OK-needs improvements in design.
This is an aggressive chain saw with good kickback prevention technology incorporated into the design.

Very safe to use compared to a regular gas/AC electric chain saw because of the kickback technology built into the tool. Lighter weight than most regular chain saws.

The wrench included is uncomfortable to use and the lopper has no place to store the wrench on the tool. The chain oiling system is a poor design with a cheap oil bottle included to drip oil to the chain. The battery doesn't last long-B & D should include an extra battery with tool. The chain has a too aggressive cut for the power of the motor.

    Great tool! Absolutely love it.
I saw this item on one of the home improvement channels and told my husband that right then and there that that is what I wanted for my birthday. Everyone thought he was crazy for buying a power tool for his wife but that is what I insisted I get. I can't ask for an easier chainsaw. I love the ease in being able to just cut right through fairly good size limbs and unwanted trees. I am actually looking into getting another one so that I will have 1 for our lake place and 1 for at home.

The ease of use, not too heavy, cuts through good sized limbs easily.

The battery runs out before I do, but then, it is hard to keep working as long as I am willing too.

Light weight, easy to use, a real workhorse
I have had my cordless alligator loppers for about 4 months and it is an incredible tool for around the yard. Its easily cuts 2" bamboo, overgrown bushes, was great for prunning our 8 year old oak tree in the yard.

Lightweight, easy to use and IS RECHARGEABLE!!! No gas or pulling cords. Long lasting charge and the cutting is powerful and fast. A great value.

You did not make it sooner and my 52 year old wife does not share this tool well.
