    7 years
I have used this edger every weekend for the past 2 years, but it has been running for seven. This edger was going to be a cheap replacement until I got a gas edger but it proved that it could do what I least expected.

    Ran strong for 7 years.

    Made Cheaply Disappointed
Bought product reconditioned. Found to be made cheaply and definitely not the Black & Decker of years gone by. The edging was sloppy and not even. The edger has potential if built with higher quality. If saw new in the store and examined product definitely would not have purchased. Reconditioned for $50.00 I will use until it dies which I hope isn't quickly. Because of performance takes longer to edge then it actually should.

    Relatively light weight.

Made extremely cheaply. Hard to fit together when assembling, required a rubber mallet and lots of WD40 to bang into shaft. Gearing for height adjustment very low quality.

Poor Product, Doesn't Last, Reliability Issues
would give less than 1 star if I could Edger worked great, while it worked Bought in May, have used 3 times, about once a month started Edging Sunday, and it flat out quit, no struggle, nothing, just died, I thought maybe I had blown a breaker, nope I guess I blew the Edger literally only used 3 times prior to Sunday, up until then I was extremely happy with it I have a very small yard, less than 1/2 an acre was edging along the front sidewalk, which I had done previously, just knocking back the grass, and there she went nothing, no smoke, no struggle, just quit

    nothing now

    doesn't work, reliability issues

Great trimmer with EASE built into the unit, for the Experienced and Novice User.
Does a great job, as mentioned, changing settings is very easy. Simply a great Edging Product.

I like the "Black and Decker" quality, durability, and reliability.

    Great Edger
There's not a lot I can say that everyone else hasn't said already. This is a great product. I've had mine for two years and it's still going strong. I have a long driveway that I edge. I also trench between my landscaping and grass around my entire house. That's a lot of edging.

Very powerful and easy to use.

No real cons. The extension cord can be a bit awkward to deal with at times, but that's what you expect from any corded product.

    doesn't last long
I used this twice, the 2nd time I used it the blace quit spinning. I tried to take blade off but the entire mechasim spins. It did a great job when it was working. I keep my lawn edged so it wasn't being pushed to do the job. I tried to get into black and decker web site and it kept refusing my telephone #. I can't seem to post this.

    good job when it works

didn't work very long, about 1/2 hour.

Just purchased my second Edge Hog
I just purchased a new Edge Hog to replace one that's 7 years old. I live in the south and on average, cut/edge my lawn weekly for 6 months out of the year, so I think it's remarkable that it lasted for 7 years. I use it to edge my driveway, sidewalk and curb, and it worked consistently week after week. I like the changes that were made to the newer model - especially the edge guard, the ability to change the blade depth, and the redesign of the blade area.

My lawn has a really nice, clean, finished look to it after I use my Edge Hog. Edging with a manual edger, especially with my Bermuda grass, is extremely difficult, so I really appreciate the dependability, power and consistency of the Edge Hog. I love it!

The only thing I'd change would be the way the blade is replaced. It's probably just me - I'm not much of a tool person, and I find it awkward. But I still give it 5 stars!

Cut a whole seasons over growth/300' in an hour. Exceeded my expectations for a electric unit!
I was really apprehensive about buying an electric edger. It was half the price of a gas and I needed to edge my sidewalks, or trails at this point. So I bought it. Easy to put together and ready in 15 minutes. In an hour I was done and that included blowing and sweeping (different product) the walk way. I had extreme over growth and I went over it twice, but I know now it will only take a half an hour to do about 300' of walk way next time. I only edged with it this time. If it had a trigger lock then I would give it five starts.

It is powerful and easy to use because it is lightweight.

It doesn't have a lock to hold the trigger down. Had to switch hands a couple of times.

    I love this machine...
We have a large corner lot and it takes me about an hour to edge just the front yard. This edger makes the prettiest, cleanly cut edge you've ever seen.

REALLY easy to use.....leaves a beautiful edge. Never use your string trimmer to do this job!!!!

The only con I have is that, after a year of use, for some reason it just seized up and the blade wouldn't turn. I took it to a "certified" Black & Decker repair shop here in Ft. Worth. It's been there two weeks and not fixed yet. They say the part they need is on backorder. That means either this machine breaks down a lot or so seldom that the part(s) aren't readily available. In either case, maybe I should buy a different brand that has better reliability. I hate to change brands but SHEESH.....two weeks to repair it???????
