    Great Edger

There's not a lot I can say that everyone else hasn't said already. This is a great product. I've had mine for two years and it's still going strong. I have a long driveway that I edge. I also trench between my landscaping and grass around my entire house. That's a lot of edging.
    Pros:

Very powerful and easy to use.

    Cons:

No real cons. The extension cord can be a bit awkward to deal with at times, but that's what you expect from any corded product.

    doesn't last long

I used this twice, the 2nd time I used it the blace quit spinning. I tried to take blade off but the entire mechasim spins. It did a great job when it was working. I keep my lawn edged so it wasn't being pushed to do the job. I tried to get into black and decker web site and it kept refusing my telephone #. I can't seem to post this.
    Pros:

    good job when it works

    Cons:

didn't work very long, about 1/2 hour.

Just purchased my second Edge Hog

I just purchased a new Edge Hog to replace one that's 7 years old. I live in the south and on average, cut/edge my lawn weekly for 6 months out of the year, so I think it's remarkable that it lasted for 7 years. I use it to edge my driveway, sidewalk and curb, and it worked consistently week after week. I like the changes that were made to the newer model - especially the edge guard, the ability to change the blade depth, and the redesign of the blade area.
    Pros:

My lawn has a really nice, clean, finished look to it after I use my Edge Hog. Edging with a manual edger, especially with my Bermuda grass, is extremely difficult, so I really appreciate the dependability, power and consistency of the Edge Hog. I love it!

    Cons:

The only thing I'd change would be the way the blade is replaced. It's probably just me - I'm not much of a tool person, and I find it awkward. But I still give it 5 stars!

Cut a whole seasons over growth/300' in an hour. Exceeded my expectations for a electric unit!

I was really apprehensive about buying an electric edger. It was half the price of a gas and I needed to edge my sidewalks, or trails at this point. So I bought it. Easy to put together and ready in 15 minutes. In an hour I was done and that included blowing and sweeping (different product) the walk way. I had extreme over growth and I went over it twice, but I know now it will only take a half an hour to do about 300' of walk way next time. I only edged with it this time. If it had a trigger lock then I would give it five starts.
    Pros:

It is powerful and easy to use because it is lightweight.

    Cons:

It doesn't have a lock to hold the trigger down. Had to switch hands a couple of times.

    I love this machine...

We have a large corner lot and it takes me about an hour to edge just the front yard. This edger makes the prettiest, cleanly cut edge you've ever seen.
    Pros:

REALLY easy to use.....leaves a beautiful edge. Never use your string trimmer to do this job!!!!

    Cons:

The only con I have is that, after a year of use, for some reason it just seized up and the blade wouldn't turn. I took it to a "certified" Black & Decker repair shop here in Ft. Worth. It's been there two weeks and not fixed yet. They say the part they need is on backorder. That means either this machine breaks down a lot or so seldom that the part(s) aren't readily available. In either case, maybe I should buy a different brand that has better reliability. I hate to change brands but SHEESH.....two weeks to repair it???????

i have had this 7 years and it earns it's keep 3x/year. dude, i have a double lot on a corner, so front and side sidewalks, and a long parking stand. it faileth not.
    Pros:

reliability and adjustable height front wheel.

    Cons:

i tried to use it to trench, but this is best done on bare ground. i was wanting to put in radial wires for a ground-mounted antenna and the blade just wasn't long enough to go through the grass and down a couple of inches more. i ended up using one of those half-moon shaped edgers and it took a looong time. 33'x4= 132', woof (hard clay).

    Edge Hog does the job

I have used it to edge sidewalks and yard bricks. The product works as advertised - still on the first blade and the yard looks great. I used to use a manual edger that almost wrecked my shoulder (I am getting too old for that kind of hard work). My wife is thrilled with the results... we may have the best yard on the block. B&D may have helped save my marriage!
    Pros:

Cost and reliability... it just works! It takes a little time to edge the first time - after the initial job it can be touched up in a flash. I will never go back to a manual edger again.

    Cons:

The edge guide is sometimes hard to see when guiding it down the grassy walk. It is black on the black plastic blade guard. Might be nice if it was a different color with more contrast.
