Reliable Lawnmower from a company that stands behind their product

This is my second cordless mower from Black and Decker. The first had quite a few recalls to get manufacturing flaw bugs out but B&D stood behind those repairs and made them without charge. I had that mower for something like 8 years I am guessing? This model is working great with more power than earlier model. Only problem so far is the top rear deck cracked the first day I used the mower. Appears to be a design flaw where the plastic is very narrow and thin in one spot and succeptable to breaking by the handle when retracted and re-opened. Will need to get that replaced eventually and hopefully B&D will stand behind that as well. Have convinced two neighbors to also get one on the block since I have had many positive experiences.
Pros:

No gas fumes. Good power. Works best on grass that is not too tall or wet. Battery seems more longer lasting than 1st generation of this mower I owned.

Cons:

Mower has a tendency to leave some grass uncut on edges of mower and have had to go over areas twice sometimes. Mostly happens when grass is a little wet or higher than normal. That did not happen with the 1st generation mower I had and never happened with any of my past gas mowers on the same lawn and condition of lawn (wet or higher than normal).

Great for a suburban lot

I have only owned this mower for a week, but so far my impressions of it are good. I've mowed the lawn a few times and for now, my experience has been positive. This is a good mower for a typical suburban lot... I was able to mow both front and back lawns on a single charge.
Pros:

The tool-free assembly was much appreciated. It has a low profile so it's easy to store and also clears low tree branches easily. The height adjustment is very easy, and it's also lightweight and very maneuverable.

Cons:

It seems to have difficulty with very long grass... you can hear the blade slowing down. I had it bagging the grass but the chute to the bag got clogged up, so it left cut grass on the ground. Also with long grass, the bag requires frequent emptying (obviously).

Terrific mower for ordinary lawns. Extra batteries allow use on larger lawns.

Rayhill suggested a lithium-ion battery. This would be a great option for those who can stand the high cost. Takes special battery management circuitry, best integral with the battery so the mower is not different from NiMH or NiCd battery equipped ones. For rapid charging, takes a high powered charger.
Pros:

Nearly no noise, no stinking exhaust, no filling with stinky gas, no spilling gas, no starting. Well constructed for long life. Low operating cost.

Cons:

Long recharging time. Relatively low power as compared to gas mowers. High cost as compared to similarly equipped gas mowers.

Impressive Product

This unit was purchased as a replacement for my 22” gas powered mower. In addition to the mower I purchased an extra battery and blade. I decided to go with an electric model as a cost-cutting measure and for its simpler operation. The mower was easy to assemble. Open the box, flip and tighten the handle, set your cutting height and charge the battery. The battery is pre-installed. I let it charge for 24-hours before using the mower. The only required assembly was for the grass catcher. This involved a simple pull-and-snap exercise. Since there is no gas or oil to deal with, maintenance is simplified and only requires a gentle washing after use. I have used the mower for three lawn cuttings. I was able to cut 1-1/4 of my yard (~100x150 ft.) before the battery became too weak to continue. A quick change of the battery and I was back in business. It’s interesting that the battery lasted almost as long as my gas-powered mower (cuts ~1-3/4 before requiring fuel). So, I did not lose much in distance here. I simply change the battery before starting to cut the rear yard just like I refuel my gas mower. Your performance will vary, especially if your lawn is dense (I don’t recommend its use if you have a dense lawn). I have not used the grass catcher as I prefer to mulch. Another plus is that I did not have to wear my ear plugs because the mower is relatively quiet. Since I like to listen to music, this is a big plus because it saves my hearing from possible damage. There is also no carbon monoxide to worry about. This is great for safety and any allergy sufferer. The mowers light weight saves on any stress to the back or other body parts. The cutting height adjustment is a simple act of squeezing the grip on the right-rear side of the mower and raising/lowering to the desired height. I wish the height adjustment labeling was more visible and permanent. There is a stick-on label that I don’t believe will last very long. A permanent etching would be better. I am pleased with this product however I would like to see the following improvements/enhancements from Black & Decker: 1) Longer Battery Life (Lithium-Ion?) 2) More Torque 3) Wider Cutting Coverage (22”) 4) Better etching and detents for height adjustment 5) Better Mulching Ability
Pros:

Design Battery Operated Light Weight Ease of Operation Quiet Operation Lack of Pollution

Cons:

Battery Life Grass Trail Cutting Width Lack of Etching for Height Adjustment
