Worst Mower I have ever used... And I have used many in my life. This one is Garbage

Many major issues with this product. This review applies to normal mowing conditions on an average lawn... Mowed regularly and allowed to dry before mowing. 1. The mower is NOT very POWERFUL. 2. It takes 3-4 passes to cleanly cut the lawn increasing the time it takes to mow the lawn and wearing out the battery before it's finished. The mower leaves a stip of UNCUT GRASS right in the middle of the cut path which requires multiple passes. 3. The MULCHING & BAGGING is AWEFUL. First of all the mower is week and does not throw the grass into the bag very well. Second, the chute which leads to the bag is narrow and clogs quickly EVEN WHEN GRASS IS DRY. and lastly, the BAG, when installed, slopes steeply toward the mower so IF and WHEN grass does get thrown into the bag it all just falls back toward the front and clogs the chute even worse. 4. LOTS of CLUMPED GRASS LEFT BEHIND because of the above reasons. Plan on spending hours raking left over grass.
    Pros:

Cheap light weight materials (LOTS OF PLASTIC) used makes it easy to put this in my truck and return it.

    Cons:

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MOWER IS GARBAGE. It is evident that this product was not tested on real lawns by real people. I am tired of the BULL CRAP about products being "GREEN" when it clearly is a marketing SCAM to sell GARBAGE at HIGH PRICES.

    So far so good

Product took 10 seconds to unpack, very easy. Charged the unit for about 6 hours and cut the backyard. Very quiet, moved easily, no issues. I used the mulching attachment. I've been told wet grass it doesn't do well with. The battery is heavy, so be aware. I noticed in one area of my lawn where there is a lot of thatch, it had trouble and the blade slowed down almost to a stop. I raised the cutting level slightly and no issue. On regular grass, not any issue.
    Pros:

Quiet Easy to adjust height Stores easily No gas

    Cons:

Has a bit of trouble with thatch or thick grassy areas (very thick). Battery is heavy.

looks good but I can't even get past the handle adjustment because it's bent

I'm angry because I can't wait to use it and the side bar where the height adjustment is made is twisted and bent. I now will have to wait for the man of the house to get home from work and hope he can fix this sloppy workmanship. Who ever boxed this had to have know this was not right and boxed it anyhow.
    Pros:

have not been able to use it yet :(

    Cons:

That I paid almost $400. and I can't even get past the first step in unpacking it. I sure hope it runs better then it looks to be made. I might as well add that the bars paint is pretty warn off and scratched (pre packing)

Great replacement for my gas mower!

I have the rechargeable 19" mower. I got it as part of the AQMD's replacement program to get gas mowers off the streets. I use this in mulching mode on my 7,000 sq ft lot, and I never run out of charge, and never have to bag and carry grass again! I've let the lawn get too tall (five inches and more!) and it still manages to get through it and mulch. In the tallest, thickest grass, it slows a bit, but all I do is cut narrower swathes through the heavy stuff. No Problem.
    Pros:

It's quiet, it mulches so I don't have to bag and carry! It's instant on, every time. No messing with gas, no pull-starting. It's light enough to maneuver easily.

    Cons:

The recharging plug is difficult to plug in. I have to get down to see the socket otherwise I can't get it plugged in. It's a design flaw that can easily be corrected. It's not noisy, so I can't annoy my neighbor when she has her radio blaring outdoors! :-) The 19-inch cut width is narrower than my 24-inch gas mower, so I have to do a few more back-and-forths to get the job done. No problem, I need the exercise.

For smaller lots with dry grass

I don't know the size of my lot, but it is a little too big for this mower with one charge. Your grass must be DRY or the chute to the bag clogs within seconds. Seems to be a good mower and a fairly good design. Changing the height is super easy! I would likr it to go lower, though. The mower is quite heavy and would be some work on a yard which isn't flat. Bogs down with tall grass. I didn't buy this mower, i checked it out from my housing office to use. They mainly have electric mowers. The battery died before i could finish my yard and, due to the super long charge time, i had to short charge twice to be avle to finish the yard. I will go back to getting the electric mower from now on and sling the cord around.
    Pros:

    No cords, no gas.

    Cons:

Bag chute glogs in seconds with moist, wet grass. Charging takes numerous hours Height needs to go lower

Reliable Lawnmower from a company that stands behind their product

This is my second cordless mower from Black and Decker. The first had quite a few recalls to get manufacturing flaw bugs out but B&D stood behind those repairs and made them without charge. I had that mower for something like 8 years I am guessing? This model is working great with more power than earlier model. Only problem so far is the top rear deck cracked the first day I used the mower. Appears to be a design flaw where the plastic is very narrow and thin in one spot and succeptable to breaking by the handle when retracted and re-opened. Will need to get that replaced eventually and hopefully B&D will stand behind that as well. Have convinced two neighbors to also get one on the block since I have had many positive experiences.
    Pros:

No gas fumes. Good power. Works best on grass that is not too tall or wet. Battery seems more longer lasting than 1st generation of this mower I owned.

    Cons:

Mower has a tendency to leave some grass uncut on edges of mower and have had to go over areas twice sometimes. Mostly happens when grass is a little wet or higher than normal. That did not happen with the 1st generation mower I had and never happened with any of my past gas mowers on the same lawn and condition of lawn (wet or higher than normal).

    Great for a suburban lot

I have only owned this mower for a week, but so far my impressions of it are good. I've mowed the lawn a few times and for now, my experience has been positive. This is a good mower for a typical suburban lot... I was able to mow both front and back lawns on a single charge.
    Pros:

The tool-free assembly was much appreciated. It has a low profile so it's easy to store and also clears low tree branches easily. The height adjustment is very easy, and it's also lightweight and very maneuverable.

    Cons:

It seems to have difficulty with very long grass... you can hear the blade slowing down. I had it bagging the grass but the chute to the bag got clogged up, so it left cut grass on the ground. Also with long grass, the bag requires frequent emptying (obviously).

Terrific mower for ordinary lawns. Extra batteries allow use on larger lawns.

Rayhill suggested a lithium-ion battery. This would be a great option for those who can stand the high cost. Takes special battery management circuitry, best integral with the battery so the mower is not different from NiMH or NiCd battery equipped ones. For rapid charging, takes a high powered charger.
    Pros:

Nearly no noise, no stinking exhaust, no filling with stinky gas, no spilling gas, no starting. Well constructed for long life. Low operating cost.

    Cons:

Long recharging time. Relatively low power as compared to gas mowers. High cost as compared to similarly equipped gas mowers.
