    Poorly made, not inspected
I used the previous model, a 24V, for five years and loved it. I brought this one home, and the right front wheel rubs against the deck. Actually, the tread engages with the deck so the wheel won't move. If the unit had been given even a cursory inspection at the factory, this would have been discovered. I had ordered it, and it took two weeks to arrive. So I'll take it back and next spring will explore other options. I was also disappointed to see that B&D had changed the height adjustment mechanism making it harder to change the height. Why re-engineer something that was working really well?

Didn't get a chance to find out. It's not usable.

It's not usable because of a defective wheel alignment that should have been discovered at the factory and corrected. Very disappointing.

DO NOT BUY!... and B&D Customer Service Team has A LOT to improve.
I decided to wait a few months and a dozen of light uses to provide honest feedback. In summary, do NOT BUY this thing because: * Battery: it definitely does not last, not even close to the 1/3 acre suggested in the product info, even using the larger settings in a average-to-short grass * Operation: after the first 5 uses, the mower only works for 1 run; i.e. if you turn the switch-handle off after 10min of mowing, then you will not be able to turn it back on again. * Customer Service: Seriously, Black & Decker may have one of the worst customer service teams I had the chance to interact to. They even asked me to check with the local reps in Atlanta area "if they could" fix the problem without charging me $$$, because the people over the phone could not. If I wouldn't had thrown the box way (had other B&D tools that gave me no headaches, so I trusted the brand), I'd have checked with amazon for a return. Hope this helps. Also hope somebody from B&D contact me for a resolution soon.

    Not worth it.
Bought it in January 2012, and it worked OK for several months - before the Summer came and grass started growing like crazy.

It is quiet. Yes, you hear it, but it is just loud enough to be heard.

The battery (there are 3 12V ones) died very soon, and the mower only lasted for 3 minutes on my lawn after full charge. Not enough to do anything. Contacted Black & Decker customer service several times in the end of 2012. No answer. These guys don't want to care about their products. Ended up buying new batteries (UB12100), they also died by now. Bought a replacement blade, but it didn't make much difference. Ugly.

    Worst Mower Ever Made!
We owned the first model of this mower and LOVED it; that thing was a beast. How a company can create a model DOWNGRADE as the next model is beyond me but they did. This mower is awful! The battery had to be replaced within two months because it wouldn't hold a charge ($70). The lever to change the height is impossible to move without getting a hernia. There is no battery meter as there was on the previous model so you just have to guess how much juice is left in the battery. The plug-in for the charger is asinine. I just cannot imagine why they made all the changes they made and came up with this awful mower. I will not be buying another one of their products.

There aren't any! The thing doesn't work half of the time!

    It's okay when it works.
After 1 year of use, the safety key stopped fitting into the receptacle (i.e. the mower would not work). Not fixable. Had to wait 6 weeks for replacement part during peak grass cutting season. B&D policy of requiring $600 minimum order from repair shops before free shipping kicks in results in poor customer service to customers in smaller communities. After spending $100 on lawn service, I gave up waiting for B&D part and bought competitor gas mower on sale. I'm not happy with the service provided by B&D.

    Cordless feature.

Fixed position front wheels. I have lots of curves in my yard - movable front wheels would be very helpful.

I would never buy this product. 2 years old and the battery is dead
I really enjoyed the cordless electric feature the first year. But when we went to store it for the winter we read the instructions and discovered the battery had to be kept over 10 degrees Celsius and the battery is NOT removable. We called B&D but they did not have a solution. After the winter in our garage the mower cuts about half of our small lawn before it dies. A total waste of money because of a simple design flaw. B&D: This product is a failure. I now have to buy a new mower simply because I can't remove the battery and store it properly.

    Quiet and easy to use.

Battery is NOT removable so if you live in a colder climate the batter will be dead in a year.

Nice mower but lacks battery life
I bought the mower three years ago because I wanted to have something other than a gas mower. It worked great for the first couple of years. After that, the battery life became disastrous. I lose half the power before I finish the first lap around my yard and am lucky if I can get 20% cut before the battery dies. (while pushing very slowly) This is with the mower height setting on its highest setting. Otherwise, I really love the mower. I would not recommend this to anyone unless they have a very small yard or very very thin grass.

very quiet, no gas/oil needed, mower construction has held up well over the years

Battery quality is terrible and will not hold a charge for very long after several years of use

A delight to use when it works, but has broken down twice so far in just 1.15 season
So quiet to use (even quieter than average home vacuum cleaner), while not self-propelled it is relatively easy to push. Love not having to mess with gasoline engine. I had to buy a replacement gas mower so I could keep the yard from growing into a jungle after it broke down (it is now 22 months since I bought it, will see how/if B&D will honor their 2-year warranty); cutting with the gas mower is so much louder, and generates intense vibrations that really shake our arms (not good). Bottom line: it's a pleasure to use WHEN IT WORKS. However, my particular mower's quality sucks (excuse the language). I used to think B&D makes good tools which are even worth paying a higher list price. Now, this machine makes me wonder about their design engineers, and exactly who they have actually making it - costs at least 2.5x more than equivalent gas mower, and if I cannot use it for more than 1.15 grass-mowing season (got it in Aug) - it'd have been cheaper paying $50/cut to a contractor!

Love the quiet! Runs smoothly, relatively light to push even without self-propelled features. One-lever cutting height adjustment makes it SOooo easy & convenient to adjust. Cuts grass, bags or mulches fine. Vacuum so-so, but not bad; that may be due to my setting the cutting height rather high (healthier for the grass). Our yard is almost postage-stamp (between 5,000 sq ft and 6,000 sq ft) and one charge easily handles it, even 400-500 more sq ft of neighboring lot before developer sold it.

Battery is totally built-in, so when it goes bad (all batteries eventually do), no way for owner (me) to replace with new one. During first season (less than half a dozen cuts since we bought in August and quit mowing in November), interlock lever (which prevents unwanted starts) slipped off/disconnected so could not start at all. Had to drive 30-45 miles to nearest warranty contract repair station, leave there for a couple of weeks, then drive back to pick up. At least they did not charge for that repair. After first full season, charger light quit shining after 1-2 cuts this season, so apparently charger broke. Am claiming under 2-year warranty, will post later how B&D handles my claim.

    Defective and flimsy height adjustment
My issue is not with the power of this cordless mower, or that you can't muscle thru grass you let get too high and need to make multiple passes. I have had a cordless B&D for 12 years, so I know how to use it effectively. The prior product worked well within it's limits. The hight adjustment on this model is flimsy and defective. Evidently B&D QA Department dropped the ball since the lack of spring strength can be detected in 10 seconds. After trying several times to set the height, one time with the adjustment slamming down painfully on my finger, I had to push a tennis ball in place to hold it above scalping my grass since my lawn was partially done and I had no other options that day. And to make things worse since I could not find a local dealer carrying the product I ordered it off Amazon, and they won't allow returns on hazardous materials. Don't know how they can ship it out and not accept the return when the only thing I did was unpack & repack the thing. Where is the hazard!

No loud gas engine roaring to prompt tinnitus. No messy gas can to slosh around in car or worry that gas will go bad over winter necessitating proper disposal, but then why can't Amazon accept the return!

Known Defective and very flimsy adjuster for mowing height. Since adjuster will not stay gravity will drop it to the lowest position which will scalp your lawn.
