This handsome and unique entertainment center provides ample storage for all your home electronics, yet is relatively compact — 5 ft. high and less than 7 ft. wide. The three-unit design features a 20"-deep center unit spacious enough to hold a large television set, and two 16"-deep end units ideal for storing stereo speakers, tapes, CDs, and books.

Because the project is built in three units, it is easy to adapt. For example, you might choose to expand the project by building additional end units to occupy a long wall. Or, for a small room you might choose to build only the center unit. You also can change the width of the center unit to match the size of your television set.

Side panels for center unit and end unit are made from 3/4" plywood, and differ only in width. Dadoes and rabbets will hold the top panel, bottom panel, and permanent shelves. Parallel rows of peg holes, drilled 2" from front and back edges and beginning 4 1/2" above permanent shelves, will hold pin-style supports for the adjustable shelves.

Center unit shelves made from 3/4" plywood have notches cut in the back corner to accommodate a vertical wire organizer track, and cutouts sized to hold ventilation screens. Adjustable shelves are faced with shelf-edge molding.

Drawer faces & overlay doors are built with 1/2" plywood framed with mitered door-edge molding. Doors and drawers for end units are the same height as those for the center unit, but are not as wide.

Folding doors for center unit are made of 1/2" plywood panels, framed on all sides by mitered door-edge molding. Two butt hinges join each pair of framed panels.
